WHAT WE DO
Protect Land
Yolo Land Trust works with landowners interested in preserving
the conservation resources
of their property, such as:
-
soils and
farmland

-
habitat
-
open space
While many conservation tools
are available to us, conservation easements are
the most common. Conservation easements are legal
agreements that protect one or more resources
forever. When land is protected by a conservation
easement, the landowner continues to own the land
while the land trust’s role is to ensure that the
resource values are protected over time. Other
tools include donations for tax benefits and
purchase of significant resource lands. For more
information, go to
Preserve Your Land.
Ensure Strong Public Policies
In addition to its conservation easement program, the Yolo Land
Trust encourages public policies that support and enhance long-term
agriculture, and promotes public awareness of the importance of
agriculture and the need to preserve it.
Provide Technical Support
Yolo Land Trust strives to improve communication and consistency
when it comes to land conservation matters throughout the County.
Relying on our long history and the expertise of its board of
directors and staff, Yolo Land Trust provides technical support to
local and state government agencies, farm organizations, developers
and the environmental community.
Yolo Land Trust maintains a neutral position, neither supporting nor
opposing specific projects. Rather, we provide information,
background and insight to involved entities regarding the
effectiveness and potential outcomes of proposed policies and
projects.
